WELCOME and thank you for visiting us
PERKOBP is a family support group registered with the Registrar of Societies in 1993. Its members consist of parents and guardians of persons with learning difficulties. We are a non-profit, caring organization dedicated to the welfare of our children with learning difficulties. Our common aim is to equip our special children with useful skills to achieve independent living.
PEKOBP is building its own Centre
PERKOBP has been operating on rented premises at Jalan Puchong since 1995. We started off with our Empolyment Training Program and over the years expanded into a Sheltered Workshop to provide supported employment of various vocations to young adults with learning difficulties who are unable to gain open employment. The number of trainees and workers has also increased from the initial 10+ to 43 now. We have always envisioned to have our own premises so that we could provide holistic services for our special children. The whole project would cost us RM2.2 Million.
Due to insufficient funds, we could not commence construction on our land which we had purchased in 2008. The 3/4 acre land is located at Kg. Tengah, adjacent to Putra Heights. However, in early 2010, we were blessed with a substantial financial support from the Japanese Embassy in Malaysia which then enable us to roll out the construction plan. The total cost including furnishing is RM1 Million.
It is our hope to construct a 2-storey purpose-built building to run our existing programs. At our own premises, we will introduce daycare services and independent living training program, giving a total of 7 training vocations.
Owing to technical constraints in the construction of our building, PERKOBP has abandoned the Phase II plan for this location. Instead, the EXCO recently decided to purchase a 2-storey shoplot at Bandar Kinrara 1, Puchong.
We have come to realise that having two centres is the better option for PERKOBP. Not only we reduced the logistic problems for our pioneer group who are from Puchong, Old Klang Road, OUG and PJ areas, we also find that managing a large group of persons with learning difficulties could be a daunting task!
We are now embarking on a fundraising campaign to raise the RM1 million for the Kg. Tengah building project. Please help us fulfill our goal.
